A Green Roof System is a contained green space on top of a human-made structure. It can be an extension of the existing roof which involved a high quality water proofing and root repellent system, a drainage system, filter cloth, a lightweight growing medium and plants.

Roofscapes

A roofscape may be only partially greenscape - but may be the answer to an Outdoor Living Space of low maintenance. A recent example was designed and built on the "roof" of an underground parking garage in an east side condo. Note the green planters situated among largely stone and paver patios, pathways and sitting spaces for conversation or reflection. The roofscape is in the center of a "U" shaped courtyard formed by building.
